The Sal Trees

(I know one person made a convincing argument to use 'Shala' but googling "shala tree buddhism" all the pages that come up only use "sal tree" regardless, so sal tree is definitely established in English, just that Buddhism and things related to it are still not all that well-known in English after all this time I imagine, so most people here still don't know this tree. Even though I like the sound of Shala better myself personally, all these Buddhist sites only use 'sal tree', not even capitalized, like they're very common and important in India to this day for multiple reasons.

And I think I want to match the minimalism of the title with just the name of the tree, and my current feelings on the name are inspired by this historical passage on one Buddhist site: 'The Buddha lay down between two sal trees and they burst into flower out of season and sprinkled their petals over him... Ananda expressed amazement that the very trees were revering him.'

So I'm currently looking at it as the sal trees revering Shimako and Noriko. I've also considered that maybe one of the girls is a sal tree to the other, or that they both are the sal trees, intertwining with each other (as they apparently do irl), but I dunno, there's nothing in the manga directly that gives any hints that I can find. Maybe something else outside it. It's just so vague...)

沙羅双樹 Sarasouju [Shorea robusta, known as the sal tree among other things in English. It is historically significant in Buddhism. I'm not sure if there's a story-related reason this is the title. I don't know if this is relevant either, but the kanji 双 (pair/twin) was not originally part of the name of old, but Jp wikipedia has a story that the Buddha entered Nirvana under a pair of these trees among other stories about how these trees seem to come in pairs and it became a regular part of the name at some point. I think we should just keep the name Sarasouju cause it rolls off the tongue so well and we can include a note at the end about how it's a kind of tree.]

沙羅双樹 Sarasouju [Shorea robusta, known as the sal tree among other things in English. It is historically significant in Buddhism. I'm not sure if there's a story-related reason this is the title. I don't know if this is relevant either, but the kanji 双 (pair/twin) was not originally part of the name of old, but Jp wikipedia has a story that the Buddha entered Nirvana under a pair of these trees among other stories about how these trees seem to come in pairs and it became a regular part of the name at some point. I think we should just keep the name Sarasouju cause it rolls off the tongue so well and we can include a note at the end about how it's a kind of tree.]

I had to fight off a serious temptation to include a love scene.
Good day everyone. This is Mori. The anime's 4th season is pretty good, isn't it? What's with all the pizza ads though? The Pizza Hut anime ad campaigns do not work on me by the way, because I prefer Pizza-La. They even put an ad in the women-only train car. That caught me off guard.
Shimako's aura is so pure, and Noriko is trying to do her best, and I too am trying my best to tape every episode. Blu-ray? What's that? Can you eat it?
I've reached a good stopping point in the books for now, but I'd like to keep making doujinshi for a while, of Marimite or other stuff.

The Sal Trees
(I know one person made a convincing argument to use 'Shala' but googling "shala tree buddhism" all the pages that come up only use "sal tree" regardless, so sal tree is definitely established in English, just that Buddhism and things related to it are still not all that well-known in English after all this time I imagine, so most people here still don't know this tree. Even though I like the sound of Shala better myself personally, all these Buddhist sites only use 'sal tree', not even capitalized, like they're very common and important in India to this day for multiple reasons.
And I think I want to match the minimalism of the title with just the name of the tree, and my current feelings on the name are inspired by this historical passage on one Buddhist site: 'The Buddha lay down between two sal trees and they burst into flower out of season and sprinkled their petals over him... Ananda expressed amazement that the very trees were revering him.'
So I'm currently looking at it as the sal trees revering Shimako and Noriko. I've also considered that maybe one of the girls is a sal tree to the other, or that they both are the sal trees, intertwining with each other (as they apparently do irl), but I dunno, there's nothing in the manga directly that gives any hints that I can find. Maybe something else outside it. It's just so vague...)

I originally intended on including a romance scene and I did try, but in the end I chickened out.

Good day everyone. This is Mori. Season 4 of the anime is pretty good, isn't it? What's with all the pizza ads though? Pizza Hut's anime ad campaigns do not work on me by the way. I'm a Pizza-La fan myself. I was surprised there was even an ad in the women-only train car.

Shimako's aura is unbelievably pure, and Noriko's always giving it her all, so in turn I too am giving it my all to try and tape every last episode. Blu-ray? What's that? Can you eat it?

The novels themselves have reached a pretty clean break point, but I'd like to keep making more doujinshi for a while, whether of this or something else.

The Sanskrit name Maitreya is more commonly used than Miroku in English, but Miroku is used commonly enough when referring to the Bodhisattva through a Japanese lens specifically and it's what the official anime subs used so that's what I went with.]
