The Universal Century.

Here, people were born and lived out their lives.

Side 1.

One of the places that humanity called home.

Some 40 space colonies...

...in this region once nurtured life...

...as they rotated like clockwork.

Now, those nurturing colonies float dead in space like gravestones.

Ever since that day of despair three years ago.

Ever since the day the awful One Year War began.

For three long years, we have waited!

I find myself aboard the Earth Federation Force's assault carrier Albion,

about to put the continent of Australia behind me.

Lost in melancholy. Saying nothing.

Together with prototype Gundam Unit 01.

I'm a systems engineer with Anaheim Electronics, Nina Purpleton.

The prototype Gundams' system engineer.

Until a few days ago—

No, until just last night,

who could have imagined that we would find ourselves in this situation?

It all began on that night that seemed like a bad dream.

When Unit 02, which had been delivered to Torrington Base along with Unit 01,

was stolen.

What are you doing? Close that hatch and get down from there!

Come out! I know you can hear me! Come out of there!

Someone! Someone, please stop Unit 02!

I claim this mobile suit and its nuclear warhead!

For the revival of Zeon!

Lt. Commander Anavel Gato.

A Zeon ace pilot who had made a name for himself in the One Year War.

Even in the Federation, everyone knew his other name,

the Nightmare of Solomon.

Even I knew who he was.

Just as people had started to put the One Year War behind them, this happened.

Will an eagle that was injured ever fly again after it has healed?

The vitality of a generation who never knew the One Year War...

...was also beginning to blossom here among Australia's natural bounty...

...at the Federation's Torrington Base.

Ensign Kou Uraki...

...was one such person.

I knew it, it's a Gundam!

Hey, Kou! Kou!

What?

Look!

There are two Gundams!

Check it out, Keith! This one has a Core Fighter!

I'm not blind.

That one's awesome, too!

That heavy armor is easy on the eyes!

Yeah, she's easy on the eyes, all right.

No carrots, please.

Agh!

Do you have a minute?

If you want a tour, do it after tomorrow.

The Gundam's reaction speed is up 0.5 seconds...

...and its output boosted by 30 percent.

We didn't see even two-thirds of that in our GMs.

Also, that heavy armor model is an anti-nuke spec,

and that shoulder bazooka fires tactical nukes, right?

I knew it! I just wanted to make sure!

Are you gunning for a Gundam, too? You guys are as perceptive as they say.

Maybe, but how are his piloting skills?

See? Just as I thought!

Are you loading the warhead?

Yes, I am! So quit getting in the way and get out!

She'd be my dream girl if it weren't for that prickly personality.

She's a lost cause, Keith. I gotta be honest, she hates you.

Yeah, I know! Let's go back, and you can join me as I drown my sorrows.

Wait!

Just a little longer!

Forget it.

C'mon, I want to watch some more!

Hey, I have a broken heart here!

Fine, I get it!

Do you really?

I said I get it!

Magnificent. What a splendid mobile suit.

I think so too, sir.

You there. Has the bazooka been loaded with a warhead?

Y-Yes, sir.

I shall try it out, then.

Someone! Someone, please stop Unit 02!

Ensign Uraki?

Ensign Uraki! I'll go get someone else! You can't handle—

I'm a pilot, too!

Portside hangar inner bulkhead damaged! Damage assessment underway!

Captain! Message from the hangar!

Unit 02 has been stolen by someone claiming to be a Zeon!

Unit 02 has been stolen by someone claiming to be Zeon!

Unit 02's been stolen?!

Incoming missiles! Distance, 12,000!

What?!

Who's stupid enough to attack us?!

- Don't the Zeons know they lost?! - Hurry!

Don't the Zeons know they lost?!

Lt. Commander Gato!

Gaily? The operation was a success. We're pulling out.

I'm not letting you leave here!

Maybe this was the moment that Unit 01 and Ensign Uraki...

Unit 02's been stolen?!

- Don't the Zeons know they lost?! - Hurry!
Lt. Commander Gato!
Gaily? The operation was a success. We're pulling out.
I'm not letting you leave here!
Maybe this was the moment that Unit 01 and Ensign Uraki...
...started to seem like one and the same in my mind.
Yes, if it weren't for this incident,
he might not have been made Unit 01's pilot.
Put out the fires in hit areas quickly! Haven't you reached Cdr. Marnery yet?!
Nina!
No! My Gundams!
You're green.
Nina! Where are you going?! Wait!
She wants to go after them?
It was a long night filled with mobile suits.
I joined in the pursuit of Unit 02—
Rather, Units 01 and 02, wandering the dark wilderness.
What the—?!
For someone like me, who was on Earth for the first time,
it was so dark that I could almost sense Ensign Uraki's terror.
Lt. Allen!
Uraki.
Sir?
This battle will be decided by whether or not you two...
...stop being a couple of squawking rookies.
Who cares how good Gato is? Think back to the crap he was spouting.
His beliefs, you mean?
I wish I could put it better, but yeah.
What I believe in...
Uraki! Ensign Kou Uraki! Do you read me? It's Nina Purpleton.
I want to ask you for a favor.
A favor?
Take good care of Unit 01. And...
Bring back Unit 02, please!
That's all I wanted to say.
Sure. I will. I give you my word.
Gato!
Where are you?!
Why did you steal Unit 02?!
I have nothing to say to the likes of you!
You don't even know what you're fighting for!
Maybe not, but I'm still a Federation officer!
Only a real man gets to say such things!
You're finished!
Its shield! Go for its coolant system!
I got careless!
Mark my words, Ensign!
I shall destroy anyone who stands in the way of Zeon's rebirth!
Our fate to pursue Gundam Unit 02 had begun.
Ensign Kou Uraki's tense back said that more than anything.
The expanse of sea that stretched to the horizon...
...seemed to bear down on the Albion as it went on its way.
It was actually a scar from the One Year War,
something too huge to simply call the aftermath of the Zeon colony drop.
It was a claw mark gouged into the Earth itself.
I felt an indescribable dread.
A sense that we were being caught up in something we couldn't escape from.
Maybe it was because of my being a Lunarian, a bystander.
Don't be silly. Unit 01 hasn't been outfitted for space use yet.
It's only been a week, and those two are already lovey-dovey...
What's the point of checking the balancer settings?
I want to get a feel for it quickly.
Besides, it's plenty capable even without the new parts.
I can't wait until the Full Burnern upgrade on the Moon!
You hothead…
In space, even a GM can fly circles around Unit 01 right now.
Don't be so rough with it!
Wait until the thrust comes up to normal... See?
These balancer settings can't be right.
Aren't these level estimates too low?
Don't fiddle with those!
I ran the numbers myself!
'Cause Lt. Monsha's also gunning for Unit 01.
So that's why…
IFF signals detected.
It's the Yulin and the Nashville.
We waited this long for just two ships?
Is that their way of saying that it's enough to search the shoal zone?
Damn it, and this is the area with the best odds of enemy presence!
Lt. Commander Gato, returning from mission.
I've heard the report of you stealing the Gundam. Well done.
Thank you, sir.
However, I have heard unpleasant rumors in my absence.
You're referring to Commander Cima taking part in the operation?
I would like to know the reason why.
It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
I thought I might be of some small service,
to the Admiral's Operation Stardust.
Commander.
What is it?
Understood. Patch it through.
It's a Federation fleet. If they maintain course,
our presence might be detected.
Three ships?!
Admiral! Allow me to deal with them.
No, I'll go out. I haven't offered him a gift yet.
Show me what the Cima Fleet can do.
- But sir! - At once!
Lt. Commander, I'll see to it that you get easier missions from now on.
Go polish your Gundam or something.
Sir, why would you involve such a woman?
I apologize for bringing in Cima while you were away.
But you would have objected if you had been here.
Yes. What is inside her heart is black as pitch.
No matter how formidable a warrior she may be,
she is not one to bring light to the cosmos.
She is certain to bring dishonor upon Zeon.
Gato.
Do you remember A Baoa Qu?
How could I ever forget? You saved my life that day.
No. You were reborn that day for the sole purpose of making Zeon rise again.
At the center of your being is a grand purpose.
Those with a grand purpose mustn't be bogged down by trivialities.
Two things were indispensable for Stardust
to succeed. You stealing the Gundam, and to bolster the strength of our fleet.
He's usually here by now.
So what?
No carrots, please.
Agh...
There he is!
Great...
- Nina! - Wait up, Kou!
Hi!
Nina, I narrowed it down to the throttle correlation curve!
Do you think that this was the problem? Look!
I'm eating.
In that case, you can have my carrots!
That's not what I meant!
Why if it isn't Miss Nina! Fancy running into you here!
I apologize for never dropping by!
Training a no-talent rookie has kept me busy!
Sorry, sir...
It's wonderful to have fulfilling work.
So, how can I help you at such a busy time?
You need to collect data, right?
If it gets wrecked with a rookie at the controls, heads will roll.
I'd never wreck it!
Have you ever seen any action in space, boy?
I'm going through Unit 01's data right now!
Big talk from somebody who hasn't experienced field trainings.
My figures are right, aren't they?
It might be safer to have the Lieutenant here pilot it.
Let's go out on a date when we get to the Moon!
That's another matter entirely.
Nina, is that really what you think?
- Miss Nina says she has reservations. - I didn't ask you.
What did you say, you punk?!
Is he right?!
You need to do something about that overconfidence of yours!
The Gundam isn't a toy!
It would make me look bad if you're only piloting it for kicks!
I can't believe this! Didn't you accept me as the Gundam's pilot?
I wouldn't have if I'd known you were this thick-headed!
You're the one who's thick-headed!
Ensign Uraki!
That was dumb, Nina.
Enemy combat ship approaching! All hands to battle stations!
I repeat, all hands to battle stations!
Let's see some panic out there! I'm not a patient woman!
I promise, I'll put you out of your misery quickly!
They're almost within range of our main guns.
Go ahead and cut loose! What about our Gelgoogs?
Launching now!
Good!
Are our mobile suits ready to launch?
Almost!
One enemy vessel! Zanzibar-class!
It's just the one ship?
Those are tough.
Enemy mobile suits detected! Five! Enemy vessel firing!
It's to rattle us!
A bunch of first-gen Gelgoogs will be child's play.
Yeah, and it's three against five.
Aren't you missing one?
Keith doesn't count.
Sorry, sir...
Keith, hurry up and launch before you get picked off!
Captain! Emergency transmission from Jaburo!
It can wait!
No, hang on! Something's cutting into the channel!
It's—
Attention, Earth Federation and warriors of the Principality of Zeon.
We are the Delaz Fleet!
The Delaz Fleet?
It is obvious to all that the armistice ending the Zeon War of Independence,
which has since come to be known as the One Year War is nothing but a lie!
This is because it was signed by traitors,
who appropriated the name of the Republic of Zeon!
We have never lost sight of the war's objective!
That will be demonstrated in due course!
Captain! The Gundam is requesting launch clearance!
Ensign Uraki?
If he wants to go, he can use my GM!
The Gundam can at least set up a secondary defensive perimeter!
Not a day has gone by that I have not thought of them!
Those who were burned in the flames of battle,
as they fought for the Spacenoid autonomy they believed in!
He's tailing me?
You're not getting away.
And those youths who now boldly fly into that flame once more!
Oh, come on! Can't they punch through even that weak defense?
I'm losing my patience!
Prepare Mistress Cima's mobile suit!
Ensign Uraki,
this is tuned for Lt. Burning, so the pedals will feel a bit tight.
Plus four, right?
- Ensign! - Huh? What?
Kou!
Please don't try to stop me! I'm going out in the Gundam!
Use this!
Kou!
I've known the facts which prove that in response to our demand for autonomy,
the heartfelt desire of all Spacenoids,
the Federation intends to snuff out that feeble flame...
...with its military might before it can grow any larger.
Aiguille Delaz... The ghost of Gihren Zabi!
Behold! The results of our battle!
This Gundam was developed for the express purpose of nuclear strikes.
This machine, a clear violation of the Antarctic Treaty and developed in secret,
is clear evidence of the accursed Federation's evil intentions!
Why won't you die?!
Reinforcements?
Panic fire won't save you!
Damn! Keith's the only one over there!
Stay away! Stay away!
There's another?!
Three mobile suits have broken through!
Has Uraki launched yet?!
He's launching— What?!
Uraki! What are you doing?!
Let me launch!
- I'm going either way! - Uraki! Above us!
So many to choose from...
I can't use the catapult!
Is that Gundam's balancers on the fritz?
Helpless as a baby... What the—?
I hit him?
Idiot! Those suits are priceless! Never let your guard—
What? A pilot like that shot him down?
Where's Kou?!
Think back! Why did the Zeon War of Independence break out?
Why do we stand with Zeon Zum Deikun?
If only I'd stopped him...
The armor on that thing!
You stubborn...!
Mistress Cima! It's time to go!
He just won't die!
Don't die on me, Ensign Uraki!
He got hit? Now I'm angry... But I'll let you go today!
That one knows when to call it quits.
Two Salamis-class, destroyed and the Gundam heavily damaged, huh?
You okay, Keith?
Yeah...
For three long years, we have waited.
- Enemy mobile suits retreating! - Our ranks have been purged...
- ...of those who heave a sigh of hesitation. - All departments, check for damage!
Aiguille Delaz, what's your true objective?
Now, with the passionate blood of the young flowing through my own veins,
I stand before you to declare war once more...
...against the Earth Federation Government!
For the glory of the homeland that we still hear echoing in our hearts!
Sieg Zeon!
Then we can't expect any reinforcements, sir?
As the man in charge of the Gundam Development Project,
it grieves me deeply.
But the senior staff underestimates the threat posed by the Delaz Fleet.
I can't send you any further ships on my own authority.
Please understand.
Captain Sinapus, you're now the only man I can count on.
Do your best. Over and out.
If we wait for Delaz to make his move, it'll be too late!
We've received landing clearance from the Von Braun Port Authority.
We're to use Block One.
Passengers of the Colloid, departing for Hong Kong at 16:20 hours,
please report to Gate No. 13 for boarding.
Cheer up, Kou!
Nina!
Nina!
Hi, Nina!
Nina!
Nina!
You guys!
Welcome back, Nina!
How have you been?!
We heard all about it! It must have been terrible!
Director!
Ms. Purpleton, I'm glad to see that you're all right.
I'm sorry for making you worry, sir.
You certainly pushed your luck.
I heard you sent it out in a space battle while equipped for in-gravity use.
Y-Yes, sir...
There was no excuse for it. I take full responsibility.
The ship's captain wants Unit 01 equipped for space use...
...by the day after tomorrow in addition to the repairs.
Director, I also have a request. Let me oversee it.
If it's 5907,
that would make the Minovsky particle dispersal density...
Come on, Scott, think about something else for once!
Simon, I think you've had...
- By which I mean this! - ...a few too many!
Are you drinking or what, Kou? Let's live it up, man!
Sure...
Good boy!
And that's when Monsha, ace pilot of the Federation, arrived on the scene!
Really? Wow!
Damn straight!
I sliced my way through one Delaz Fleet grunt after another!
Oh, you must've been piloting a Gundam, right?
A Gundam?!
Our Gundam got trashed...
Because a rookie pilot was at the controls!
You hear me, Uraki? You're making life hell for Anaheim!
They're working around the clock to fix it!
Is this any time to be sitting around, enjoying a leisurely drink?
I'll thank you to not cause any trouble on the Moon.
So you don't mind if it happens off the Moon.
We're most appreciative of your tacit approval of the Delaz Fleet's uprising.
In spite of all you say to the contrary,
it's Lunarians like you who are causing so much chaos in the world, isn't it?
Not at all.
I'm merely saying that I wish to be of assistance, Mistress Cima.
If that's the case, maybe you could provide us with better mobile suits?
Or shall we drop a colony on the Moon?
That Albion is such a nuisance...
You think you're on Earth, buddy?
Don't think that everybody here wags their tail at the sight of a Federation uniform.
What a wimp.
Let's bounce.
A mobile suit pilot, huh?
G-Give that back!
You better work out harder, or the Delaz Fleet's gonna get'cha.
Where am I?
You carried me here last night?
I'm Kou Uraki. I'm a mobile suit pilot.
A deserter, huh? You get scared of fighting?
No... But a mobile suit was ruined because of me.
Then quit. If you feel that way, better do it now.
If... If I could, I would.
Hey!
This is— Isn't this a mobile armor from the One Year War?!
Still no word from Uraki?
No, sir, not at all.
I swear, that kid's nothing but trouble.
Oh, so it's split up into various levels.
It'd be a pain if he went all the way to the bottom level.
It's nothing but factories and junkyards down there, though.
I see. You still can't find Kou...
No, I haven't heard from him, either.
Kou...
Love is blind, huh?
H-Hardly! I just have lots to do before the Albion leaves port!
You're going with them again?
The data we get from the Gundam now is more important than ever, right?
She's risking her life for a great adventure!
For a great love, more like!
Cut it out!
Nina!
The section chief wants to see you.
Chief? Is this a direct order from the company?
No, it's nothing that formal.
But it's a fact that the topic of you being transferred has come up.
And from a personal standpoint, I also owe it
to your parents to keep you safe.
Besides, surely you don't have to be on a Federation warship to do your research.
Upper management wants that ship out of their hair as quickly as possible.
Does this mean that I can't take time to think it over?
I'm sorry about all this. But I have a family to think of.
You're—
Why? Why are you helping your enemy?
Enemy?
Kelley had given up on repairing that thing!
You're in the EFF, aren't you?
I just wanted to stay here a while...
Because you're a deserter?
But Kelley lost his left arm in the One Year War!
He was taken off mobile suit duty as a result.
He still can't let that go!
So Kelley was a pilot...
This is why I hate vid-phone calls.
You feel as if you had seen them in person.
Nina, it's time to come live with us.
New Antwerp's not so bad.
Plus, it's close to Granada.
Are you listening, Nina? Will you let me see you?
You can relax, Dad. I'll come home.
Honestly, when your section chief told me...
...that you were aboard a Federation warship, I was worried sick.
I blew it again...
I guess it's time to pack it in, Kou...
Mr. Kelley!
What's with the angry look?
I can't believe it! You were a Zeon pilot?!
She just had to blab it out…
Yeah, that's right.
But I didn't ask you to stay here or help me repair my mobile armor!
Miss Lateura is worried about you.
A spineless coward like you has no right to pass judgment on me!
Does that make you mad? Then come at me.
Otherwise, turn tail and run away!
Damn it!
Kelley! Stop it!
You little—
He's had enough! Just let it go.
I refuse to end up some whipped dog! No matter what happens!
Just leave! Leave and don't come back!
I got a call from Maura.
She said you might be down here.
I thought you were busy with your work at Anaheim.
I guess you need to step away every once in a while or you'll burn out.
Has this helped you clear your head?
Let's go back to the Albion.
Kou?
I look forward to your return.
The time for our rebirth is upon us at last.
This is just between us.
Soon, I shall go down to Australia on Earth to carry out a certain objective.
When I do, you will hear Admiral Delaz's voice.
This is our chance to fight back!
Let us fly side by side as we did at Solomon!
I await your favorable reply. To my dear friend, Lt. Kelley Layzner.
From Anavel Gato.
Gato... What are you up to right now?
I can't go back yet.
I have unfinished business here.
I have to deal with something that's smoldering deep down.
I will come back. I promise.
Please tell the Captain that.
Kou!
Thanks for coming all this way!
Kou!
The Gundam's trials will be at Anaheim's Livermore factory!
At 10:00 AM!
Why did you come back?
I'll go back to my ship. I just want to fix this first.
Out of pity?
No.
I gave it a lot of thought.
If I gave up being a pilot, what would I be then?
I could make a living tinkering with machines. But I—
Running a junkyard's not so bad. That's what I told myself.
But something deep down inside me...
A pilot is what I am.
It's the same with me. I know the feeling.
Gundam Unit 01, Full Burnern...
Launching!
750...
Looking good. No sign of any G-flutter.
900!
Okay... Punching it!
69...
55...
46...
32...
17...
Propulsion laser feed terminating!
Very good! We will now depart the Moon's gravity well!
Axis, located far away from the Earth Sphere.
This was another hive of Zeon remnant forces.
A fleet dispatched from there
was coming to provide unofficial aid to Delaz.
At around this time, Aiguille Delaz was moving...
... his own pieces towards the Solomon Sea Sector.
The target of Operation Stardust was to be found in the Solomon Sea Sector.
Which meant that the stolen Gundam Unit 02 would also be there.
IFF identification still underway. However, it is definitely a friendly.
Lt. Bait's squad is en route.
Another ship on its way to take part in the naval review?
That's two days away. The first one since the One Year War.
Guess the Federation top brass are finally getting off their lazy backsides.
That's not true.
This naval review has been on the books for a while.
As the fleet's newest ship, we should have been in it, too.
Maybe the senior staff is going through with the review,
because they want to showcase the Federation's strength.
Captain!
New contact in EB-2! Lt. Burning's squad on route!
Lieutenant! Reported objects dead ahead!
They're big! Really big!
What?
Don't scare me like that!
It's that space colony relocation they told us about!
I-I can't wrap my head around how big colonies really are...
They're sending colonies that were damaged in the war to Side 3.
I guess this is the Colony Restoration Project's second batch.
So these are space colonies...
Lt. Commander.
Is something the matter, sir?
No, I was just thinking of all our comrades who fell in this sea.
I know what you mean, sir.
Of all those who fought directly under you, I'm the only one left.
Karius, was this wise?
Returning here to this place that is haunted by so many ghosts?
Am I able to do this because of so many sacrifices?
This sea is still young.
Its waves won't calm down for a while yet.
Yes, you're right. I must simply race through it.
Lt. Bait! One unknown at 0-1-0! Course is clear!
Yeah, I can see it! Damn it, can't a man even sit down for a meal?
Resupplying of Lt. Adel's suit is two minutes late!
I gotta cook these sitting ducks all by myself?
How many bandits does this make?
This makes the 11th we've detected!
But due to the return of Lt. Uraki and Ensign Keith,
Vella Lavella airspace is now shorthanded.
Lt. Adel's GM Cannon launching from starboard catapult!
Be advised!
Here you go! That was great, you splashed three!
This sea sector is hell...
Run a quick trend check on the legs!
And run the sync check with the localizer twice to be safe!
What's that sound?
All sections, release override!
Kou!
Nina...
Are you holding up? That makes three sorties today!
Oh, look how sweaty you are!
What's the matter?
Uh, nothing. I just smell bad, so...
Silly boy!
Haven't you noticed the smell in here?
Airtight warships sure are bad.
The stuffiness and body odor...
With the smell of oil mixed in.
Would you mind not talking like that?
It almost seems too quiet here at Confeito.
Have we found any Zeons lurking about?
Our security screen is flawless.
So far, we have shot down 37 enemy mobile suits.
If they're coming, just come.
What are such scattershot attacks meant to accomplish?
Admiral, it's time to go to your flagship, the Birmingham.
Yes, a gentleman must always be punctual.
Gentlemen, this naval review is the perfect opportunity...
...to demonstrate our power to those Spacenoid scum.
Completing it will signify the defeat of the Delaz Fleet!
Launching mobile suits! All hands, stand clear! Stand clear!
How long will these battles go on?
Until I catch Gato?
Lt. Monsha, your course is clear! Good luck!
Back at'cha!
Universal Century 0079.
The last great war was the darkest year in human history.
But we overcame that tragedy...
...and now I'm pleased that three years later,
...the largest pageant in space, shall become the...
...embodiment of the peace and stability of the Earth Sphere.
The tradition of the naval review dates back to 1341 of the old A.D. era.
It began in the Anglo-French War, when King Edward III of England...
...personally reviewed his fleet as it set sail to go into battle.
We cannot allow the bounty of space that we all share...
...to be ruined by those who would—
Pathetic!
We shouldn't have let the Federation make Such an abominable speech.
No!
For now, endure this!
Until the day we win the glory that our survival will make possible,
place your life in my hands! Is that clear?!
This is blasphemy against our comrades who fell here.
Commander, let them have their moment.
After all, we have come here.
That's true. To mow down these Federation powermongers.
Right! I'm going in! The rest of you, begin the diversion!
Roger, sir! Roger, sir!
It's not this field, either! Which is their real target?
Admiral, we are engaging the enemy at A-3 and L-6.
Delaz's target is clearly the naval review.
Delaz's fleet is as good as destroyed.
Sir?
We'll show him what happens to a fleet without its mobile suits.
Admiral, the third group of review ships is now passing to port.
This is security satellite! This is security satellite four!
Child's play.
They're here?
Lt. Bait! Lt. Bait, do you read?
Probable main enemy force detected in Ramos Patrol Zone! Make best speed!
G block, 77!
Roger that!
Proceeding to designated point immediately!
I'm starving!
How was that sitting duck dinner?
This is Uraki! What about Gundam Unit 02? Has Gato been spotted?
No intel at this time!
There is no information on him at this time!
I can't believe the remains of the Battle of Solomon are still so dense…
Which is perfect for us.
The Federation will never be able to detect us in all this.
Do you think this sea is crying? Begging us to do something?
It is welcoming us.
I can hear it.
Uraki! Behind you!
These guys are pros! They're not like the others!
Karius! You've come far enough! Begin your withdrawal!
It's still too dangerous! I'll stay a while longer!
How many sorties did I fly from here right under the Federation's nose?
At last, Stardust will be—
An automatic sentry gun?!
We've been spotted?
New enemy contacts? Where?!
At S-0! Two bogeys in the shoal zone!
Visual feed coming in!
What?!
What?! Gato's at S-0?!
Can we even make it from here?!
Get going, Uraki! Your Full Burnern can make it!
Yes, sir!
We've got this! Keith, go with him!
Roger that!
Another one?!
They're coming?
I mustn't waste time here… My grand purpose is at risk!
Commander, I'll handle this! Hurry to Confeito!
No, to Solomon!
They're all yours!
Slow down, Kou! It's dangerous to go in alone!
Make it in time... Make it in time!
Make it in time!
This long-awaited moment has come at last.
To prove that all those brave souls did not die in vain...
A picket this small won't stop me!
Gundam Unit 02?!
Where is it?!
The far side of Confeito!
To once again uphold the ideals of Zeon!
To carry out Operation Stardust!
Solomon, I have returned!
This is Stardust?!
Gato!
Hey! Wait, Kou!
This is the Quartz! Anybody, please respond!
Is anyone receiving?! This is the Quartz!
It's no use! We're being jammed!
Do you copy, Delaz Fleet?
These colonies are under Colony Corporation supervision!
Don't you see? You're fellow Spacenoids, aren't you?
- Gato did it... He actually did it. - Colonies are the cornerstone of...
- Mistress Cima, it's time! - ...our way of life!
- I'll do it. If I've come this far, I'll see it through. - That's why we Spacenoids must protect all colonies!
All teams, report to Block 9!
Gate 12 currently sealed off!
All fleets have suffered catastrophic damage.
Roughly two-thirds appear to be out of commission.
It's all over.
Sir?
Even down to one-third fighting strength, we still vastly outnumber them.
While they, on the other hand, have played their trump card.
That was too easy... Is this what they mean by a hands-down victory?
Directly below me?!
Gato! Do you read me?! Respond!
I know you can hear me, Gato!
Even if you've forgotten me, I'll never forget you!
That man from earlier?
I'll keep hunting you until I put an end to this!
This merely makes my victory all the sweeter.
I got him?
No, Gato wouldn't have—
Too slow!
You must be feeling pretty happy now, Gato!
But for us, the people you stole Unit 02 from,
it's an insult!
I'm not unsympathetic.
You have now met with a great hardship.
Can you hear me?! Tune to 5.82!
I shall hear you out!
What?!
All conflict is rooted in resentment! It's only natural!
Always with the speeches!
But someone who is driven by resentment alone cannot best me!
For it is righteousness that drives me!
Damn it!
He can't move his left arm? Okay, then...
Your skills have improved, I see!
Why? Why does it have to be these two who are fighting?
It would seem that we don't share a common set of values.
Kou...
I'm not out yet!
Kou!
Commander! Eject! Hurry!
The Core Fighter isn't working?
Your name was... Uraki, wasn't it?
What?
I won't forget you a second time.
Gato!
We lost his signal.
But don't worry, Lt. Uraki will come back in one piece.
Why...?
Why is this happening?
This is Lineback One.
We've arrived at the point we lost contact with the Colony Corporation.
All's right with the world, huh?
What's that?
We've been detected by the Federation! Pursue and destroy!
Damn. The jig is up, huh?
But it's too late.
Mistress Cima! All mobile suits have completed their withdrawal!
All ships, main cannons, simultaneous barrage!
Fire!
What? A colony-jacking?
Yes, sir. They blew off a mirror from each of the two colonies...
...that were being relocated.
What do they want with two uninhabited colonies?
What's going on?
I suppose you're wondering why I called you here.
I believe that the true nature of Operation Stardust remains hidden.
That is, perhaps the attack on Confeito was a prelude to what's to come.
If it weren't, why would Delaz have given such a grandiose speech?
It was a bluff?
I don't believe so.
I asked Admiral Cowen at Jaburo for further instructions,
and have decided to send Unit 03 into the field.
Miss Nina?
Please don't! I have no authority over that one!
So there's a Unit 03...
Captain! Please let me pilot it!
You can't! That one is a completely different type!
The ship has already changed course.
We're making for La Vie en Rose, which is cruising through...
...point 35-B to conduct tests.
Captain!
Excuse me. Emergency report, sir!
A colony-jacking? But what's this about mirrors being blown off?
Mirrors?
If I'm right, these colonies that have lost one mirror each will start to wobble...
...as they rotate due to the shift in their center of gravity.
Eventually, the two colonies will...
They'll collide?
And obviously, the colonies will bounce off after they collide,
and then one of them will be captured by the Moon's gravity!
What?!
A colony drop on the Moon?
Captain! We have to change course!
We'd never make it in time from this position.
Admiral, we're getting reports that the two colonies have collided!
First combat speed! Hurry!
We mustn't get involved in any of the fighting.
It's stated in the temporary visiting forces agreement...
...we signed with the Federation.
You have our gratitude.
Thanks to this Axis fleet's neutrality,
we can fight without concern about the future.
When the deed is done, please see to recovering our troops.
I swear it.
Why, this is—
Magnificent! It's as if the ideals of Zeon have been given form!
This is the mobile armor Neue Ziel.
The colony drop against the Moon loomed ever closer.
The Delaz Fleet was rallying all available forces...
...to form a battle group to escort the colony.
And the surviving fleets of Confeito were pursuing them at top speed.
A showdown at the Moon was only a matter of time.
In the midst of all this, we aboard the Albion have reached...
...our docking point with the La Vie en Rose at a far away sector.
In order to obtain Gundam Unit 03 from them.
Begin mooring procedures.
Yes, sir.
Stand by for gangway contact!
Miss Nina.
Wh-What's the deal, Maura? Why the ambush?
- Just come with me! - Hey!
What the heck is all this about?
- Nina's acting strange. - Huh?
She's not herself.
Because I lost Unit 01?
No, is it because to Nina, she lost Units 01 and 02 at the same time?
Maybe that's all it is.
Nina?
Kou?
So this is where you went.
It's all over, right, Kou? Everything that the Gundam started?
Even if we do get Unit 03, it might be too late.
It's for the best.
But...
...what about you, Nina? What will you do after this?
Nina?
Going to Earth...
I wouldn't mind going to Earth.
If I was with you.
Is something the matter?
No, I'm sorry.
I just don't think that this will end with the Moon.
Gato's—
His attitude said that there was more to Operation Stardust.
Stop talking about that man! I don't want to hear that name!
Even if the fighting continues after this,
you've done more than your fair share!
When you get in too deep, it leaves its mark on you,
you can't forget even if you want to...
I'm scared of that happening to you. I'm scared...
Nina...
I want to forget this cold dread inside of me.
You poor dears. It looks like your time is up.
It's already on a trajectory that intersects the Moon's orbit.
And there's no telling if your last hope, the Federation Fleet, can catch up to it.
There it is! The colony!
Contact the main fleet! Advance party has detected the enemy!
Battle stations!
We really don't want to drop that colony on the Moon.
So, there are two options open to you.
Do you get crushed by the colony, or do you...
Colony thrusters, activated! Accelerating!
What?! The colony's relocation propellant has ignited?!
Wh-Where is it going?!
Now that the colony is under thrust...
It will leave lunar orbit, and then...
...be captured by Earth's gravity!
W-We've been had!
This is the Madras! Tanks are dry, unable to continue!
This is the Monterey! Running low on fuel, leaving battle line!
Son of a bitch! How many ships will we even have left?!
The colony had changed course towards Earth.
Ironically, the only thing in position to stop it was the Albion.
How long will fate continue to toy with us?
Come over to me. Do it now, and I'll overlook this.
Are you that blind?!
That colony is about to—
You little fool!
Listen up, you thick-headed guards! Drop your weapons right now!
Tell your men to stand down, Commander Nakato.
Our enemy is the Delaz Fleet, isn't it?
Kou, you're willing to go that far?
They call this beast a mobile suit?!
Damn it, it takes too long to switch over to auto!
Look at your evaluation monitor.
Swap weapons from the unarmored containers within three seconds!
Current status?
Sir!
The colony is roughly halfway between the Moon and Earth.
The prototype Gundam Unit 03 has made contact.
Also, the neutral Axis Fleet is falling back to the rear.
I have to admit, this is a fine colony drop...
...that incorporates the lessons from the One Year War.
Not even Gundam Unit 03 can stop it all by itself.
Earthfall is in 14 hours, sir.
This will be decided in nine hours.
That's when it will cross the point of no return.
"Point of no return"?
Here.
If the colony crosses this point,
there's no way we can stop such a huge mass.
We must retake the colony and divert its trajectory before then.
But does the colony even have any propellant left?
It has to!
They need it for its final course correction to hit Jaburo.
Port side, ten o'clock! One bogey!
Ahead of us?
The Earth Orbital Fleet can't possibly have reached us yet!
This wasn't part of the plan...
I'll be in the comms room!
All it has going for it is size!
They're falling back...
Where is he?
There is nothing more to be said.
Is that Gato?
An I-field?
Commander, your armaments are all beam weapons! They can't—
Don't interfere!
He's stopped moving!
There's no time!
I'm almost out of weapons?
Gundam, this is Albion!
We've caught up! Return and resupply!
Return to ship for resupply!
Distance?
Distance to colony, 107,000!
Captain, it's 8 hours, 22 minutes to the point of no return!
Order a mobile suit charge!
Not yet. Not until Unit 03's rearming is complete!
I'm almost through their first defensive perimeter!
The question now is, when will the enemy appear ahead of us?
Salamis-class comprise the bulk of the Federation's Orbital Fleet.
They won't pose a problem.
I must say, I wasn't expecting them to strike at our exposed flank.
The unexpected sometimes happens. Gato is dealing with it.
Yes, the unexpected has been known to happen...
Admiral! The fleet has resumed pursuit!
Even if we fail to catch up to the enemy, let us handle mopping up the Zeons!
This is squadron 72! Moving ahead!
Begin weapon container swap operation! Pop them out!
Nina...
A-Admiral!
Completely boxing in the enemy forces them to take desperate action.
I didn't ask you!
Admiral, what are you planning?
Or rather, what do you hope to gain by exploiting this situation?!
We must position the Earth Orbital Fleet in front of it to—
Jamitov, you son of a—
There's no time! Forget these crazy schemes, just order an attack!
Wh-What are you doing?! Get your hands off me!
Admiral!
The Cima Fleet cannot be trusted!
We'll do this...
...by ourselves!
But Commander! Can your body take much more of this?
Guradl... I'm the only one who can defeat that Gundam.
Simon... How much time?
Rearming is now complete.
No, I mean till the time limit.
3 hours, 11 minutes.
Nina...
We're out of time, with no hope of reinforcements...
Nina Purpleton.
Yes?
I'll grant you the use of a lifeboat. I want you off the ship at once.
Captain Sinapus, I voluntarily choose to remain and see this through.
So thank you, but no.
Don't expect a paycheck from the EFF.
Cima's ships are out too far ahead.
Listen up! Let no one through! This mission is do-or-die!
Mistress Cima, we're picking up reactions ahead. It's time.
What perfect timing.
Captain, I'm getting something to port! It's a light!
What? Towards Earth?
Can you enlarge it?
The Earth Orbital Fleet?
No, what is that? What could be that arrangement?
That ship refuses to fall back? I respect their resolve.
It's him?
Gato!
Distance to point of no return?
10,200! Another 21 minutes!
If we cross that line, it'll finally shut up those annoying flys!
What are you after?
Aren't you using me and my fleet as bait to gain favor with the Federation?
Are you dropping the colony or aren't you?
Shut your mouth, old man!
Monsha! Behind you!
Dammit, I ain't that quick!
Direct hit! Port side MS catapult!
Simon, how's our time?
Our time?
T-minus four minutes!
Die!
Now to reach the colony!
My I-field!
You're too late!
T-minus 50 seconds...
Just 30 more seconds...
It's crossed the point of no return...
The colony...
...is headed for Earth.
This isn't over.
We mustn't let it fall on Jaburo!
Captain, a message from the First Earth Orbital Fleet!
What?!
They say the Delaz Fleet has halted combat operations!
What does that mean?
Stand down? Preposterous!
This is G-21. Solar System II upper portion deployed!
This is left flank, W-11! We're having trouble here! Send help!
We're behind schedule! Hurry up and get it deployed!
The enemy's right in front of us!
A Solar System?
As you can see...
Looks like they had a trick up their sleeve to stop a colony drop.
Just add heat, and boom!
Damn you! And you call yourself a Zeon officer?!
This is how my life has always been!
Pushed around by people who are all warm and comfy back at Side 3!
Of course I'd double-cross them if I got the chance!
Admiral!
A shame. I tried to lead someone devoid of high aspiration.
That was my mistake.
The day I'm guided to a backwater like Axis is the day I go out of business!
Cima... You treacherous snake!
Stay right where you are, Gato.
A losing commander must accept his defeat gracefully.
What?!
Go, Gato.
Gato, see this through! We have the colony!
Have you lost your mind? What are you saying?
Go! Leave me to die and carry on!
Shut up!
Would you have me be made into the laughingstock of the cosmos, Gato?!
You stupid bastard! The Solar System is targeting it as we speak!
I-I'm not playing around!
Admiral...
Sieg Zeo—
Lt. Uraki! You'll never catch up to Gato from your position!
Please withdraw at once! Lt. Uraki!
What was all this fighting for?
What did all those people die for?
Lt. Uraki, where are you going?!
T-minus 210 minutes... No mirror will stop us!
Enemy mobile armor closing in! Distance, 12,000!
Damn that Cima! She bungled it?!
Buy time for the Solar System to finish targeting!
Don't send out a guide beacon! Are you trying to get taken out?!
A reading? Above me?
What did I tell you?!
Lieutenant Uraki! The Solar System is about to attack!
Lieutenant Uraki!
Deployment at 81 percent! Over!
F4, F5, F6, standing by for focusing!
L-15, hurry up with that array check!
If I can just take out the control ship!
Get out of my way!
Space colony distance, 4,000! T-minus 70 to Solar System II firing!
I can see the colony with my own eyes! That's good enough, fire!
J-Just 30 more seconds!
I said to fire!
Is that it?
By heavens!
Captain! The control ship! It's—
What?!
It survived...
Wh-What are you doing?! Evasive! Emergency evasive!
Port! Hard to port!
No one can stop it now.
Colony is now on final deceleration trajectory!
T-minus 150 minutes to impact!
Where is Uraki? Hasn't he returned yet?
Captain! Nina's trying to leave from the sealed-off port side deck!
She's what?!
Miss Nina? Hang on, is she going to the colony?
You bastards!
Mistress Cima! Sound the withdrawal!
Withdraw to where?!
Explosive cable... Has it stopped moving?
Whose side are you on?!
What?!
Gato!
Once something is accomplished, others will follow the path.
One final course correction, and—
Nina Purpleton...
I'm begging you, Gato! You've made your point! Stop this!
It's not over yet!
I shall complete Operation Stardust.
This colony will fall on the Earth, nothing can stop that!
- It doesn't have to be on Jaburo! - The target isn't Jaburo!
You don't understand.
Why?
Why did you have to show up again?
Since that day you suddenly disappeared...
I wanted you to forget everything.
I wanted you to forget...
...those days I spent living a false life on the Moon, waiting until the time was right.
I tried to forget!
No, I did forget!
I've committed my body and soul to the rebirth of Zeon!
Perhaps it is you who is the true witness to Operation Stardust.
Gato!
Hold on!
Nina?
Stop it, Kou! There's no more reason to fight!
Stand aside! You know what this man has done!
I've been forced to watch you two fight again and again!
Until one of you was dead...
I prayed that it would never come to this!
Nina!
Were your feelings for me a lie?
Tell me!
Don't be like this...
Gato!
Kou. Stop it.
Nina?
You can't be serious, Nina!
He's dropping this colony! He stole Unit 02!
Kou, that isn't what this is about.
Nina! Come back! Come with me!
Troop rescue gets top priority!
Hurry up with recovery operations!
Abandon any heavily damaged mobile suits!
Colony final course correction complete! It's right on target!
Delaz, Stardust is a success!
You actually did it...
Commander, it's the Federation pursuit force from the Moon!
Commander!
We'll be flanked by the enemy's forces from the Moon! Escape with us!
We're out of time!
Karius...
Lieutenant Uraki, the colony is starting to break up.
Hurry and get out of there!
Do you read me? We did the best we could!
This is Uraki. I just left the colony.
Lieutenant! You're okay! Rendezvous with the Albion at once!
Wh-What?!
The Albion is 8,000 aft of the colony! 7-7-1!
We can't hold here much longer! Hurry!
If you hadn't been with the corrupt Federation,
you could have avoided all this distress.
Lieutenant? What's the matter? Lieutenant!
He was waiting here? For me?
I wonder what she did to deserve this?
What's that light?
Engine output falling! Propellant tank two feed won't open!
Direct hit! Port side main gun dead!
It's block 4— Scratch that, block 5!
- We've paid a high price... - Ship's speed down to 25! Stall warning!
We've done all we can! We're leaving the battle zone!
You must be out of weapons by now!
- Behind me? - Too slow!
How do you like that? You can't separate now, either!
What the—?
Wait, sir! Our fleet's vanguard is in front of the focus!
Captain!
Hey! They called off the relocation!
The colony isn't falling here!
Wh-What's that?!
And with this blow, history is changed.
Gato...?
He left without finishing me off?
Gato...
Walfisch! Do you read? Walfisch! Commander Gato, we're out of time!
Miss... Nina, was it?
Take a good look.
The colony... it's falling.
It is the light of those mens' souls.
All right, let's get going...
Attention, surviving forces of the Delaz Fleet.
You have nowhere to go! Surrender immediately!
Don't throw your lives away!
I want as many of you as possible to breach their line...
...and reach the Axis Fleet.
To pass down our fight for truth to future generations!
The time limit for your stay has expired. Depart at once!
Or are you prepared to trade fire with us?
We will terminate retrieval operations.
Just five more minutes!
Wait just five more minutes!
Turn the fleet around! Set course for Axis!
I want you to make the choice for yourself.
I'm begging you!
Where... Where can I go back to?
A light?
Remaining silent won't help your case. Answer the question.
Are you listening?!
Ensign Kou Uraki. One year, imprisonment!
Think back! This incident is the result of optimists,
who had delusions of tranquility in the Earth Sphere!
The Delaz Fleet's uprising is,
but one example of many!
One need to look no further...
...than the devastating blow to North America's breadbasket region...
...than the devastating blow to North America's breadbasket region...
...dealt by the accidental fall of a space colony three days ago!
Our beloved Earth is in constant danger from threats of all stripes!
Earth!
To ensure that this symbol of space itself is never left vulnerable,
we Titans now rise up!

Unit 02 has been stolen by someone claiming to be Zeon!
Unit 02's been stolen?!
Incoming missiles! Distance, 12,000!
What?!
Who's stupid enough to attack us?!
Don't the Zeons know they lost?!
Lt. Commander Gato!
Gaily? The operation was a success. We're pulling out.
I'm not letting you leave here!
Maybe this was the moment that Unit 01 and Ensign Uraki...
...started to seem like one and the same in my mind.
But sir!
At once!
Great...
Nina!
Wait up, Kou!
Miss Nina says she has reservations.
I didn't ask you.
It's—
Attention, Earth Federation and soldiers of the Principality of Zeon.
We are the Delaz Fleet!
The Delaz Fleet?
It is obvious to all that the armistice ending Zeon's War of Independence,
which has since come to be known as the One Year War is nothing but a lie!
Ensign!
Huh? What?
I'm going either way!
Uraki!
Our ranks have been purged of those who heave a sigh of hesitation.
Enemy mobile suits retreating!
All departments, check for damage!
Aiguille Delaz, what's your true objective?
Now, with the passionate blood of the young flowing through my own veins,
I stand before you to declare war once more...
...against the Earth Federation!
Simone, I think you've had...
And from a personal standpoint, I also owe it...
...to your parents to keep you safe.
So Mr. Kelley was a pilot...
A fleet dispatched from there...
...was coming to provide unofficial aid to Delaz.
As the fleet's newest ship, we should have been in it, too.l
Sir?l
Gato did it... He actually did it.
Colonies are the cornerstone of our way of life!
Mistress Cima, it's time!
I'll do it. If I've come this far, I'll see it through.
That's why we Spacenoids must protect all colonies!
Just come with me!
Hey!
What the heck is all this about?
Nina's acting strange.
Huh?
Simone...
Simone, how's our time?
It doesn't have to be on Jaburo!
The target isn't Jaburo!
Ship's speed down to 25! Stall warning!
We've paid a high price...
We've done all we can! We're leaving the battle zone!
You must be out of weapons by now!
Behind me?
Too slow!
One need to look no further...
...than the devastating blow to North America's breadbasket region...
...dealt by the accidental fall of a space colony three days ago!
Our beloved Earth is in constant danger from threats of all stripes!
Earth!
To ensure that this symbol of space itself is never left vulnerable,
we Titans now rise up!
