To start, this lumber is far too weak.

Nothing like the trees humanity used in the past, which were purpose-bred and slow-growing.
We'd be screwed if we were hit by such a storm on the open sea.
If we use these for masts, challenging the Pacific will be a major

You're gouging us because you know that.
Fine. Go ahead and rip us off, then.

But wait. If we're giving him ownership rights to all of the oil,

Crunchyroll Kingdom of Science Drama Club First Performance "The Mysterious Light" Why did he want us all here? Performance? "Mysterious Light"? One day, thousands of years ago... The planet was engulfed in a mysterious light. Oh, shit! This is really bad! And so all of humanity was turned to stone. Every last piece of civilization that had been built up until then collapsed. But there was one man who refused to give up, and prepared himself for his own reawakening. That man was... A boy of science, Ishigami Senku. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight... Senku held on to his consciousness, continuing to count for thousands of years. Crackle, crackle, crackle! Hm? What's this? The whole world's stone, damn it! All right, I'm going to climb right back to the top of humanity's two-million-year tech tree! And we're going to use science to figure out how to undo the petrification. Time to build civilization up from scratch! Senku and Taiju continue their research. The revival fluid works! We can un-petrify people! And after a fierce battle with the Tsukasa Empire, the time has finally come to tackle the mystery. Yeah. To solve the mystery, we're headed to the other side of the planet, where the petrification beam came from! What?! Th-The other side of the planet, you say?! But h-how do we do that? We're all going to build a ship together! This is exhilarating! Senku... He might be able to do it. He might even solve the mystery behind the light. Heya! If you've been totally confused this whole time, you're one of us now. So can we count on you to help out? Yeah! Time to take back civilization! We got this! He's raising morale by sharing information. That's our Gen. Stage plays! I love it. That was powerful. Well then, everyone, since we're all building our ship together, it's time to start pitting our ideas against each other's! Damn it, Gen... This confetti is ten billion percent way too extra. Don't say that, Senku-chan. We're trying to set a mood here. Magma and Yo? I wasn't expecting those two, either. They always look like slobs, but they look really smart today! The people of Ishigami Village are people of the sea. Ships are right in our wheelhouse. The throne is mine now! This is finally my chance! Once I win here, I'll be right at the top. All right, let's have the three of you present your ideas! Why do we even need a competition, anyway? Senku's obviously going to win. Yeah, it's strange. Especially since he must want to leave as soon as we can. Huh? Yo-chan? You'll want to see my presentation last. My ship's already finished, after all. Seeing is believing, right? Whoever can build the thing and show it off first is going to win. You primitives aren't going to have much... Nah. I shouldn't be laughing at the underdeveloped. Awesome! The village is full of boats. I've seen way too many of them. This gets me pumped to see Yo's ship, too! You did say "seeing is believing," didn't you? With that smug look on your face. You sure did. Hurry up and show us! I never said such a thing. Wait, did I? Oh, crap! I left it at home! Hey, it's like a tiny raft thing. Senku-chan, what's up? Are the sails made of straw? Made of what, now? Is it sewn from straw? Yeah, something like that, I guess. This is insanely useful, Magma. You're right. You really are people of the sea. Experience is worth its weight in gold. If we know that straw sails are good enough... We can definitely start building this ship. That's it! Damn it! He went all-out! That's obviously what we want, if we can build it! It's a proper sailboat. It looks cool as hell, but how many hundreds of years are we going to spend on it? I'll die of old age before it's done! Don't do this to me! Unless we had, like, a hundred people to help build it... Wake up, all of you. What do you think that stupid stage play was for? We've got all those strapping men on our side that Tsukasa-sensei woke up for us. We have a hybrid of science and strength in our manpower. This is going to be exhilarating! Getting to the other side of the planet should be easy on a ship like this one, right? Yeah, as long as we can get access to one more special talent. We're ten billion percent going to need it. Tsuka-san... Buck up already. Huh? Tsukasa told me about you. You're the information broker who knew who to revive? I have a job for you, journalist. Journalist... Human contact... Information about people... Those were my weapons as a journalist. Who do you want? I'll find whoever it is you're after. I want a captain. This'll be a make-or-break Age of Discovery voyage across the planet. We need a captain with ten billion skill points in sailing. They'll be the key to reviving all of humanity. That's who we need on our team. I see it. That's the island. Wait for us, Captain! Although... We're making a sailboat. Are we sure we can find someone who has that kind of experience? A modern person, I mean. Probably only for training purposes. I don't think we'd find anyone anywhere in the world who's been sailing all the time. Ryusu— Ryusu? No, never mind! Let's go! Hurry! Nanami Academy. Nautical schools like this one usually teach sailing. One of the teachers would probably know how to steer one, at least. All right, time to mine stone statues. Dig, dig, and dig some more, Team Gorillas! We'll take care of it! I'm not a gorilla, m'kay? Are we waking up all of them? No. We're running out of revival fluid, thanks to Homura wrecking the miracle cave. Guess we'll have to choose a good middle-ground with plenty of experience, then. I know a few of the instructors from when I came to do a report. There he is. Ryusui... You said that name before, too. No, no! You really don't want him! Quit mumbling and just speak. He's got talent, right? That must be why you blurted out his name. Nanami Academy was owned by the king of maritime trade, the Nanami Conglomerate. They had 200 trillion yen in assets. And he's the hopelessly self-indulgent son of the Nanami family. Nanami Ryusui. He'd apparently been spending his hundreds of millions of yen in allowance to collect model ships and bottle ships since he was a kid. H-Hundreds of millions in allowance?! He could never get enough, so eventually, he had a real sailboat built for him. Ever since he was in middle school, he'd been sailing around the world seeking pleasure, without any help. A captain since middle school?! He's the real deal! Nothing's more valuable than experience. Didn't I tell you he's hopelessly self-indulgent? Tsukasa hated him for being an established power, too. I would choose someone else. We won't find anyone who's a more skilled sailor than Ryusui-kun, but we won't find anyone who's got a personality worse than his, either. The ultimate dilemma... Do we take a proper, reasonably talented person, or do we take the risky one with top-of-the-line skill? He's already using the revival fluid on him! Talent comes first, obviously. I'm back at last! The world is mine once again! I've returned! I want everything in the world! And the whole world wanted me, too! Minami... I think I already understand what you meant. I told you so! Are you the ones who saved me? I'll have to thank you, then, the best I can. Ask my butler, Francois, for a check. Write any number you like on it, whether it's ten billion or twenty billion. Francois! Looks like we're well beyond that. You can always trust a sailor's instincts. Civilization has collapsed. The Nanami Conglomerate and I have lost all of our assets. Correct? Yeah, that's right. I'm glad you're quick to catch on. This is an amazing opportunity! Many thanks for waking me up! With all of the world's ownership rights erased, I can have everything to myself! Why don't you start by acquiring some clothes? Sorry about that. Pardon my indecency in the presence of three beautiful women. Three beautiful women? Are you so groggy that you can't even count straight? You mean two? You don't need to keep saying the truth all the time. What are you talking about? There may be many types, but all women are beautiful. Am I wrong? This is impressive, everyone. I want this! I can't wait to see the sailboat, can you? Will this ship take us to the other side of the planet? Nah, no way this is going to work, right? Not with the sailing technique of a captain who's used to modern ships. This primitive ship's going to take way more skill, isn't it? Before I answer that question, you should retreat and protect the ship. You can always trust a sailor's instincts. The temperature's risen quickly. It's 14 degrees. He's right. It's exactly 14 degrees. Humidity is up to 90%. The wind's coming from the south-southwest. The Siberian air mass is likely being driven upward by the influence of the Yangtze River air mass. Capillatus clouds are approaching at approximately 60 kilometers per hour. That means... The spring rain is coming. The May storms! He was dead-on. Thank goodness. What is the deal with that Ryusui man? Was that science, too? We'd be screwed if we were hit by such a storm on the open sea. The lumber isn't tough enough. It's nothing like the timber that humans spent decades carefully culling. Traveling across the world with these sails is too much of a gamble. I figured. We'll make a motor-sail hybrid ship. We will? Senku... You were testing me, weren't you? Well done, Nikki. I want your strength! Ryusui... You're new here, so I don't mind giving you a hand. But I'm not taking this play money. We don't even have any oil, do we? What value do these scraps have? Excellent question. The value of currency is there, whether there's anything backing it or not. It's trust. Senku... If he's really brought all this science into this stone world, he'll surely find the oil fields. And that very expectation turns paper into treasure! What is it? I hear a waterfall. What? There it is. Oh, shit... It's way off from Senku's map. Did he write it out wrong? No. I don't remember the geography either, but this couldn't have been here 3,700 years ago. It's like... Niagara Falls. See the tallest mountain over there? The west side of it looks treacherous. We may have underestimated... how long 3,700 years really is. Oh, yeah? The coastline was a mess, too. So is the interior. What's wrong, Senku-chan? What was I expecting? The science users would be disappointed in me. The cycle is just a few centuries. Just one eruption of Mount Fuji is enough to change the landscape. In the 3,700 years that we were asleep, it must have gone off at least four or five times, potentially more than ten. Our modern maps aren't worth shit. That's so scary! We'll need a new map. Gotta start working on it now. We'll figure it out without a map. No... It'd be too much of a long shot to find an oil field without any directions, and too dangerous. A map... But how? Birds... If only we could ride a bird to get a look around. I bet they know all about what the ground looks like from way up there. That's it! Hemp! I want hemp! We'll need to mobilize en masse to gather a stupid amount of hemp. You know, though, Senku-chan... Everyone's got their hands full building the ship. This is how we connect oil with currency. We'll make them spend all the drago they've saved up. I might be filthy rich. I've got twice as much drago as you! Haven't you heard? Your drago is in grave danger. What? We can't find that oil field. If we don't find the oil, the deal to swap oil for drago goes "poof," right? So... I'll teach you how to make sure your precious drago doesn't turn into scrap paper! Those guys are totally at the mercy of money. All it takes is one rumor to crash a currency. It's been that way for thousands of years. After all the effort they put into making money, you're manipulating the currency to make them do your bidding. You lot are way more insidious than I am. Look at all the hemp we collected, Senku! Suika was right. We should have searched for the oil field from above. Hot-air balloons. The treasure hunters of science... search from above! Humans? Flying? In the sky?! We're going to take on the world. Let's conquer this new Japan that Mount Fuji has made for us. Don't make me laugh, Senku! That's too much, even for you. There's no way humans can fly. Nah. I shouldn't be laughing at the underdeveloped. Don't worry, I won't laugh. I don't get it, either. How the hell are we going to fly when we've got nothing to fly with? This is getting even better! The sky? I want it! Done. This is our road map to flying the skies. This is going to be the longest road map yet! But obviously I'm excited! So short! You'd be shocked at how easy hot-air balloons are. You can fold up a whole flight kit and throw it in your trunk. I never knew flying would be such a casual activity. Hemp cloth? Isn't that going to leak air? A little bit of leaking won't hurt. The first balloon that humanity took flight in was made of hemp cloth. The one massive ordeal to overcome is... Right... You need a crap ton of cloth, don't you? Oh, look! I totally didn't realize! We've got the crafts club here! The science team will commit itself to designing the passenger basket. We'll make any tools you need. Can I leave the cloth-making to you? To the Yuzuriha Crafts Team? Of course you can. I'll take care of crushing the hemp. I don't get it. Are we really going to fly with this grass stuff? You can't fly with grass. We're making thread out of it. We're making the thread using a spinner. Spinner? Yuzuriha-chan's Easy Handcrafts! Episode 1! We take these scraggly-looking hairs from when you extract the fiber from the hemp, gather a bunch, tie it to a spinner, twist it around a little, and then just spin it. There, done! See? Easy, right? It's actually kinda fun. And we're going to make... A few dozens of thousands of kilometers' worth. Here we go again! I knew it! It's never going to end! Just do it, and it will end. I'm even more confused. This string is going to let us fly? No, man. You can't fly with string. We're making cloth out of it. Okay, next, let's go over how to make cloth. Yuzuriha-chan's Easy Handcrafts! Episode 2! First, string the hemp on vertically, like a harp. Then, do it horizontally. Up, down, up, down, tucking them in one after the other. Do that over and over, and... It starts looking like cloth! Are we really going to build up the cloth one string at a time?! Th-This is going to take way too long. Handcrafts take patience. How the hell is this "easy"?! It's a lot of work, but it's easy work. That said, this really would take forever. Should we ask the science team for help? A loom, huh? Finally... A loom! Hey, it's done. Was this not what you were expecting, Yuzuriha-chan? We didn't have much time. Did you want an electric one? N-N-N-N-No, that's not it! I appreciate it! A lot! What do you say we dye it with this? We may as well. You're really ladylike, huh? It's so nice! Good going, crafts team. We're almost there, huh? We messed up some of them, though. There might be a few that are too thin to hold air. Keep at it a bit longer, then. Did you guys hear? We don't have enough thread. With that, it's time for our happy thread-spinning competition! Whoever makes the longest thread wins a whopping 10,000 drago! My ass, Gen. I mean, that'll get them pumped, but... Where do we find such a war chest? Dude. Don't worry, we'll make all of it back! I mean, you know, why don't we make a product to sell with the botched cloth? Sell it where? The Senku Department Store. So that's the deal... I'll make it! I'd love to! It's really noisy in there. Yuzuriha-chan, are you— Hey, Kinro! She's gone berserk. That's not the Yuzuriha-chan we know, is it? You think so? She's always like that when she's working on her crafts. Th-This is so embarrassing... Sleeveless Top Stole Total If you're going for an ethnic vibe, match it with a stole for an elegant look. Kinro?! You're swinging the wrong arm! Show off some grown-up confidence with a knit turtleneck and some accessories for a classic fit. All this is made with just hemp?! That's insane! A girly look with a dash of street fashion for a contemporary look. It's so cute! I kinda want that... A three-piece suit for that special occasion, with some rock 'n roll spice. It's so expensive! Go ahead, fall in love with me. Check it out! You look fantastic, Magma-sama! It's pretty, but the price... I think I'm going to go for it. You're buying it? Actually, I'm going to think it over. They're the Senku Department Store's first high-end products. It might be a while before they start selling. Hand them out to anyone who works. We have a living manifestation of greed who'll buy just about anything. Thank you for shopping. Wait, this is only hurting me, isn't it? That's it for our biggest hurdle... a crap ton of cloth. Let's get this thing built and into the sky. What?! A flying machine?! Holy crap! Wait, Chrome! We're flying! Holy shit! Senku-kun, how big do we need to make it? Let me think... If the balloon is 2,000 square meters and we heat 15-degree air up to 90 degrees, we get 520 kilograms of lift. Air temperature drops 6.5 degrees every thousand meters. Even if we keep it under 100 degrees to avoid igniting the thin cloth, we can make it to peak altitude just below the jet stream, 1,500 meters up. Which means... The balloon needs to be 7.8 meters in diameter for a maximum capacity of three people. Ow! I poked myself again! Whee, whee, whee! Those primitives are all so good... We all got lots of practice sewing leather clothes and stuff. You modern people are so useless. You aren't even doing anything. Why are you being so smug? Yo, what was that about modern people being useless? And why are you being so smug? It's finally done! This is the flying machine? It's so damn huge! So who's getting in? Up to three of us, right? I don't want to be one of them. Senku knows how it works, so he's a given. Who are the other two? The balloon won't fly itself. We need to read the wind to maneuver it. Which means we need a professional of the wind to pilot it. Got it! Hey, Ryu— Shh! Your negotiation tactics are way too straightforward, Senku-chan, Taiju-chan! Ryusui-chan's going to rip us off again. I'll let you deal with all that noise. Okay, gather round, everyone! We need two more people to man the balloon. We'll choose them by lottery. The two Jokers in this deck are the winning cards. Here you go, Ryusui-chan, you're up next. He's going to pretend Ryusui-kun winning was a coincidence... ...and make him work for free. Is he actually going to buy it? I see what you did there. If you want my help, you should just ask. Gen, in acknowledgment of your clever trick, I'll fly for you for a mere million drago. The Joker and the win are mine! There's an experiment that shows that, more than anything, people want what they thought they had gotten, but lost. That's exactly how it is with dating. Oh, no, who could have seen this coming? I ended up with the Joker. What to do? What, you don't want it? You'll never get a platinum ticket like that again. One of the first humans to take flight in the new world! I know... I'm a little afraid of flying in a balloon, though... I wouldn't mind going instead, then! Really?! But... I did win this ticket... I don't think I should just give it away. We were supposed to pay him... How did we even get here?! I'm terrified of Gen-kun. We're going to have our oil funds in no time. All right, I'll win the next one. Damn, missed. We can choose the last one at random, right? Yeah. Anyone who's interested and who won't freak out mid-flight. I'm interested! Way too interested! I-I'm drawing a card. If it's a lottery for a chance to get in the flying machine... I'm gonna draw the winning card with sheer willpower! Chrome... Did you run all the way back? I want to see with my own eyes, from the sky, what the world is really like. Senku told me... that the world is round. But for those of us who've lived our entire lives in this tiny village... We have to take your word for it. We only know because you already do, Senku. So please... Yes! Seriously? Chrome actually drew the right card with sheer willpower! All right! Senku-chan, what's up? It's a pilot balloon that uses hydrogen and deer gut. Rate of ascent? At that size, roughly 70 meters per minute. Does that tell you something? It'll show us all the winds above us. We can fly in this wind! It's a perfect day for a launch! W-We're floating! They're actually flying! We pulled it off! People are so amazing. We're so greedy and relentless. We make things. With millions of years of science. They're so tiny already. Huh? The balloon's glimmering. It's still pitch dark for the people on the ground. We're 1,200 meters up. We're experiencing dawn seven minutes earlier than the ground. The world really is round. I saw it. With my own eyes... Crap. I want to see more. I want to know everything about the world! We're in the sky, protected by nothing but our own skin and flesh. You don't get this kind of extravagance anywhere else. Not this unique sensation. We're with the birds! We shouldn't be happy about that. Bird strikes. They're a ridiculously common kind of accident. Really? We just need to dodge them. It's odd, though... We aren't rising as fast as I expected. It's up to the wind whether or not a balloon can ascend. It's literally a sailboat of the sky. Which means it's my time to take this maiden flight to the goal! Goal? Where is this balloon headed, anyway? Ishigami Village. What?! That's a two-day walk if you book it! And about two hours by balloon. That's the power of the wind. After all we went through to travel that distance... Sky travel is insane. It's so easy. It's actually not that easy. Flying west to Ishigami Village is a bit complicated. There's a wind blowing eastward all the time above Japan. Yeah. Any amateur can fly east. So how are we flying west, then? A low pressure system! It's usually a pest of a wind that brews storms. We're taking advantage of that low pressure system's rotation, capturing it to travel west. With the skills to fly to Ishigami Village on this wind, we'll know that we can go even further, to hunt for oil. It's difficult and dangerous. But a professional adventurer overcomes. Am I wrong? With me as your captain, you amateurs are free to relax. A professional adventurer? Did you just call me an amateur? Me? The king of exploration? I'm sure you're a pro when it comes to adventuring the seas. But when it comes to exploring the land, I'd say you're still green. When you're close to the ground, the wind tends to blow along the rivers. You're right, we're being drawn along the river a bit. We'll be stranded if it takes us out to sea. Let's climb higher. A true professional adventurer who explores on their own two feet would know this kind of crap by heart. I'm in a different league from the amateurs who take vehicles everywhere! Enough of your stupid chest-thumping. If you want to see what the wind's like below you, you just need one of these things. That's quite the dramatic change. To fly westward is to battle with the gods of the sky. I-It's huge... The bearer of storms, demon of the clouds... The cumulonimbus! H-H-Holy crap! What is this?! Any closer, and it'll pull us in with overwhelming force. A balloon wouldn't stand a chance. We're preparing to land immediately! Pull the string, Chrome! That'll open the top of the balloon and release hot air, allowing us to descend quickly. Got it! Wait! Senku? It's already open. If you pull it and the cloth tears, we'll crash. How?! It was that bird strike. No wonder we couldn't ascend. Crap! We're going higher even though we've already shut off the flame! We've been captured by the updraft of the cloud demon cumulonimbus! Isn't there any way to descend?! Nope. We have no escape route. Put your brain in overdrive... Think of something! What kind of ammo can science offer? We're out of time once the steep ascent puts me into anoxia and my brain shuts down. This is the greatest opportunity! I'll obtain the skills to take on the cloud demon. I'll find a way out of this! A hole in the wind! Damn it... I want to get out! There's no way out. Get out? Is that it? Is that really the answer? Humans are weak as hell. Running away from nature can only ever get us killed. Don't run... We're just going to bust our way through with mind and soul! Right through the cloud demon! Bad idea? No. If we jet our way a few thousand meters up, we'll be even higher than this ginormous, ever-growing Mister Cumulonimbus. It's an insane altitude, but we'll just barely avoid suffocating. Not bad, Chrome... In that case, throw in all the fuel we have left. Okay. We're accelerating as fast as we can to blow right through the cumulonimbus, aren't we? Isn't that... The revival fluid that brought me back from petrification? It's a mix of alcohol and nitric acid. It burns like crazy. That's our last bottle. It's a bit of a waste, but... You'll be freaked out... by the energy density of liquid fuels! Yes! Let's go! Where is it? Where's the exit? Ryusui, what are you... I see the updraft! The path through the wind! Now! Give it the rest of our fuel. We're blowing a hole right through the cloud demon's skull! Let it rip, Ryusui! This world's skies, too, are mine! They're flying... They're actually flying. Chrome... Ryusui... Senku! Everyone! Senku and the guys made it to Ishigami Village! They're there already? Really? It's only been a few hours. The world suddenly feels a lot closer. All right! The rest of us better get working, too! It seems science can elevate not just balloons, but people's hearts, as well. You're right. Everyone's excited as hell. Can you imagine if the ship gets done in no time? Gen, I've been wondering... You must have known who would win the ship idea contest. So why... In magic, "forcing" is the technique where you make a person choose a certain card. But making people choose for themselves... Or at least making them think they chose for themselves... That part's really important. People don't come together under the thumb of a strong leader. Gen... I'm really glad you sided with Senku instead of Tsukasa or Hyoga. We're here... We've reached the goal. That was pretty easy, huh? Given your skills, Ryusui... You lot are no slouches, either. If we, professional adventurers, rely on each other and combine our strengths, finding oil will be cake. Leave that manly-friendship- after-a-riverside-duel stuff for later. Hurry up and help me. I'm dead soon. Hey! Senku-chan knows really well... People are power. Me, too, Chrome. What? I don't know everything about this world, and I want to see it. I want to see what's on the other side of this world, where the petrification beam came from. Very well, Senku! I'll take you there, to the other side of the planet! All right, let's take a trip in this balloon to get the king of fuel, petroleum. This is exhilarating.

sam BD v2 (Translation: Crunchyroll & Viz (Caleb Cook), Editing: Zedjones) Why'd he want us all here? A performance? About a "mysterious light"? One day, thousands of years ago... this planet was engulfed in a mysterious light. Oh, crap! This is really bad! And so, all of humanity was turned to stone. In but an instant, all of civilization's advances collapsed. But there was one man who refused to give up, and prepared for his own reawakening. That man... was the student of science, Ishigami Senku. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight... Senku held on to his consciousness, continuing to count for thousands of years! Crackle, crackle, crackle, crackle! Hm? What's this? The whole damn world's been turned to stone! All right, we're gonna climb right back to the top of humanity's two-million-year tech tree! And while we're at it, we'll use science to figure out how to save everyone from the petrification. It's time to rebuild civilization from the ground up! And thus, Senku and Taiju began their work. The revival fluid works! We can un-petrify people! And now, after a fierce battle with the Tsukasa Empire, the time has finally come to tackle the mystery of the petrification! Right. And to solve that mystery, we're headed to the other side of the planet, where the petrification beam came from! What?! Th-The other side of the planet, you say?! B-But how is that even possible?! We're all going to work together to build a ship! This is gonna be exhilarating! With Senku... that might actually be possible. We might even learn what caused all this. Heya! Even if you weren't sure what was going on before, that's okay, because you're all caught up now. So what do you say, friends? Can we count on you to help out? Yeah! Time to take back civilization! We got this! Raising morale and sharing information at the same time... Classic Gen. Stage plays, huh? I love it. That was powerful! Well then, everyone, it's time to start proposing designs for the ship. May the best idea win! Dammit, Gen. This confetti is ten billion percent way too extra. Don't be like that, Senku. Can't you see we're trying to set the mood here? Magma and Yo? I wouldn't have expected them to have ideas. They usually act like total idiots, but I guess they're trying to be smart today! The people of Ishigami Village are no strangers to the sea. We've been building ships for generations. That throne is as good as mine! This is my chance to shine! Once I win this, I'll take my rightful place at the top. All right, if this is everyone, would our three contestants kindly set up their presentations? What's the point in even having a competition, anyway? Senku's obviously gonna win. Yeah, it is a bit strange. Especially since we need to set sail ASAP. What're you doing, Yo? Just kicking back. I'll give my presentation last, by the way. Why, you might ask? Because my ship is already done. I asked myself what the best way to sell my idea was, and then it hit me: if I can show off the finished product, there's no way I can lose. I can already imagine what you primitives have in store... Ah, sorry, I shouldn't make fun of your ignorance. A-Awesome! I've been surrounded by boats my entire life. It's only natural I'd be able to design one. This gets me pumped to see Yo's ship, too! He even said he's already got the finished product. With a smug look on his face, if I recall? Yeah, he sure did. So where the hell is it? Huh? Did I really say something like that? That, uh... doesn't sound like me at all. Oh, right! I actually just remembered I left it at home! Wait! Is this dinky raft-looking thing your boat, Yo? What's up, Senku? Are these sails made out of straw fiber? Huh? The hell is that? Ah, right... Basically, are they made from dried plants? Yeah, something like that, I think. This is perfect, Magma. It's just like you said. You guys are no strangers to the sea. And right now, that experience is worth its weight in gold. If we know that straw sails are enough to get us out to sea from here, then this ship design will ten billion percent work. We'll take that one, please! Goddamn! That's, like, the perfect ship! Obviously that's what everyone wants, but how the hell are we gonna build it?! Now that's what I call a proper sailing ship. It does look pretty damn cool, but won't that take forever to build? I'll die of old age before I can see it through! You're too cruel, Senku! Why, we'd need at least a hundred people to finish it in time. Quit griping and just take a look around. You didn't think we put on that stupid stage play for fun, did ya? Tsukasa woke up an army of strapping young men for us, and we just convinced them to join our cause. Now we've got the power of science and might on our side. Ain't that exhilarating? With a ship like this, getting to the other side of the planet will be a piece of cake, right? You said it. There's just one more special skill we're ten billion percent gonna need. Tsuka... Buck up already, will ya? Tsukasa told me about you. You're the information broker with intel on who to revive, right? I've got a job for you, journalist. Journalist... My network of contacts... My intel on people... Those were my weapons as a journalist. So, who are you after? Give me a description and I'll find them. I need a captain. We're planning to sail to the other side of this stone world and clear this Age of Exploration in one fell swoop. That's the key to saving humanity. And if we want any hope of achieving it, we're gonna need a god-tier captain. That's it. That's our island. We're coming for ya, captain! We're making a sailing ship, right? Do any of the captains from our era actually have experience piloting them? Sure, but only for training purposes or as a hobby. Beyond that? We could probably search the whole planet and never find an expert in... Ryusu— Ryusu? Uh, forget I said anything! C'mon, let's just go! Nanami Academy. Maritime schools like this definitely would've included sailing in their curriculum. If we revive the teachers, one of them is bound to be a capable captain. All right, it's statue diving time! Dig, dig, and dig some more, gorilla team! You can count on us! Just for the record, I'm not a gorilla. Are we gonna revive all of them? Nah. Unfortunately, we're running low on revival fluid, thanks to Homura wrecking the miracle cave. Guess we'll just have to go with someone that's well-rounded and experienced, then. Fortunately, I know a few of the teachers from when I came to do a report here. It's him... Ryusui. Is that who you mentioned before? Yes, but I promise... you really don't want this one! Stop wasting time and just spit it out already. He must have talent, right? No point trying to hide it. Nanami Academy was owned by the king of maritime trade, the Nanami Conglomerate. They were worth 200 trillion yen back in the day! And the next in line for that wealth was their self-indulgent prodigal son; none other than this guy, Nanami Ryusui. From an early age, he loved working on models, ships in a bottle, and the like. Fortunately for him, amassing a collection was easy with an allowance of a hundred million yen. A-A hundred million? You call that an "allowance"? Eventually, he grew tired of models, and started building the real thing. As early as middle school, he started piloting the ships himself and sailed around the world, getting into all sorts of trouble. A captain since middle school?! This guy's the real deal! Nothing's more valuable than experience. Let me repeat: he is hopelessly self-indulgent. Exactly the type of guy that Tsukasa would've hated. I'd really suggest going with someone else. Sure, you won't find anybody who's a more skilled captain than Ryusui, but you won't find anybody with a worse personality, either! This is quite the dilemma. Do we take the decent person with average skill, or the troublemaker at the top of his game? He didn't even hesitate! Obviously we're gonna prioritize talent. At long last, I've returned! And now, this world will once again be mine! Now that I've returned, I desire everything this world has to offer! Just as this world once desired me! I think I can see what you were talking about already, Minami. I tried to warn you! I take it you're the ones who rescued me? I know I can never repay you, but at least allow me to try. My butler, Francois, can write you a check. Does ten billion sound reasonable? Twenty? Give them however much they ask for, Francois! It appears I'm no longer in a position to make that happen. You can always trust a sailor's gut. I'm guessing civilization is long gone, along with the Nanami Conglomerate and all of our wealth. Is that right? Yeah, you nailed it. Lucky for us, you're quick to catch on. All the better, then! Many thanks for waking me up! With the entire world up for grabs, this is my perfect chance to lay claim to it all! How about you "lay claim" to some clothes first? Ah, thank you kindly. You'll have to pardon my indecency. And in front of three beauties, no less. Three beauties? Are you so groggy that you can't even see straight? You mean two, right? If you've got nothing nice to say, then cram it! I've never heard something more ridiculous. There may be many types, but all women are beautiful. Am I wrong? Well done, people! I can't wait to get my hands on this! I couldn't agree more! I'm getting excited already! So, you think you can pilot this thing to the other side of the planet? Surely that's asking a bit much, don't ya think? How could a man who's used to his fancy yachts and modern tech possibly handle steering a primitive ship like this one? Before I answer that, I suggest we cover the ship and take cover. You can always trust a sailor's gut. The temperature just spiked. It's 14°C now. Bang on. It's 14°C, to the dot. The humidity's up to 90%, with a south-southwesterly wind. Probably a system from Siberia, strengthened by an air mass from the Yangtze. Those capillatus clouds are approaching at approximately 60 kilometers per hour, meaning... there's rough weather incoming, and fast. We've got a May storm on our hands! He was dead on. He really saved our skins. Who is this Ryusui guy, anyway? And what he did... was that science, too? If we ran into a storm like this mid-voyage, we'd be dead in the water. To start, this lumber is far too weak. Nothing like the trees humanity used in the past, which were purpose-bred and slow-growing. If we use these for masts, challenging the Pacific will be a major gamble. Figured as much. That's why we're building a hybrid: a motorized sailing ship. Wait, we are? Senku. You were testing me, weren't you? Seeing if I was fool enough to leap before looking. You cheeky bastard. The Nanami Conglomerate could've used a guy like you! But what'll be powering the motors? Not the low-grade coal you people use in those furnaces, I hope. That garbage will sink the ship with its weight alone. We won't make it to the other side of the planet without proper fuel. "Proper fuel"? I've got no idea what you mean. I don't know a thing about science, so I'm totes lost right now. Don't play coy with me! You know exactly what I want, Senku. The ultimate power source. Fine, fine. The Kingdom of Science needs some of the good stuff anyway. So whaddya say we go get it, huh? Of course, I'm talking about the king of all fuels... We're going drilling for oil, baby! What, in Japan? You must be out of your mind! There's no freakin' oil here! Actually, you'd be surprised. I-In Shizuoka?! Are you serious?! Yep, dead serious. It's called the Sagara Oil Field. They stopped pumping once profits dipped, but that black gold should still be down there. It's a treasure trove full of some of the highest-quality oil in the world, and it's ripe for the picking. Japan's sure got a bit of everything, doesn't it? Just not a lot of any one thing. I got no idea what this "oil" thing is, but you can bet your ass I'll find it! I'm counting on it, resource king. All right, let's do this! The new-and-improved Chrome Expedition Team is on the job! Whatever this oil stuff is, it sounds like it's our best bet to cross the ocean. We'll go get it and be back in a jiffy! Acquire that oil, and I promise you: I'll do whatever it takes to get you to the other side of the world. On one condition. You're placing everyone's lives in my hands and asking me to risk my own, right? So, as my captain's fee, I demand full rights and ownership of that oil field! Jeez, that's asking way too much! Just how greedy are you?! How crude! Do you really value everyone's lives so little? Well, if my price is too high, you can always find another captain... Yeah, yeah. You know damn well that you're our only choice. Fine. Go ahead and rip us off, then. But wait. If we're giving him ownership rights to all of the oil, what are we gonna use for the voyage? It's not like he'll just give it to us. Think about what you're saying, man. Isn't the answer obvious? If you people want to use my oil, you'll have to pay for it! What the hell?! This is so unfair! He's only been awake for, like, a day! How the hell is he already so loaded?! That does it! Yo! 'Sup? Ryusui, was it? Gotta say, I'm pretty jeal— Er, what I mean is, you seem pretty sly! We could be good frie— Wait, let me start over. As a former cop, I can show you how things are done around here, if you catch my drift. The official currency issued by the Ryusui Conglomerate: Dragos. You'd be smart to start earning some, since I'll be selling oil for 100 dragos per millimeter. Assuming we actually find any. Huh? What do I care about some stinkin' oil, dude? If I can't use this cash for nothin' else, I'll pass. Don't be so hasty, now. One ramen, please! Senku and his merry band need dragos to fund their big oil purchase, so it seems like they're using science to whip up stuff to sell. Or do my eyes deceive me? It's become a legitimate currency already, huh? Sure you don't want any, friend? No, I do! I totally do! Thanks, man! I told you his personality needed work. Are you sure we should just let him do as he pleases? I ain't too worried about it. Currency is a fruit of scientific innovation, too. It brings people's strengths together. And since he's already gone to the trouble of making it, we'd be stupid not to exploit it for all its worth, right? Once they're flush with cash, we'll hit 'em right where it hurts. Well done, Nikki. I want your strength! Ryusui. You're new here, so I don't mind giving you a hand. But I'm not taking this play money. We don't even have any oil, do we? If that's true, then what value do these scraps of paper actually have? Excellent question. Currency has value whether there's anything backing it or not. It's all about trust. Take Senku, for instance. If he's really brought all this science into this stone world, then he'll surely find the oil fields. And that expectation is what turns these scraps of paper into bona fide treasure! What is it? I hear a waterfall. What? I see it! Over there! Oh, shit. This is nothing like Senku's map. Maybe he just drew it wrong? No. I mean, I never had a head for geography, but I'm certain this wasn't here 3,700 years ago. This waterfall... It's big enough to rival Niagara Falls. See the Great Peak over there? The land becomes quite rough to its west. We may have underestimated... just how much can change in 3,700 years. Oh, yeah? So the coastline is a mess, huh? Inland, too. What's wrong, Senku? How could I miss something so obvious? I really am a pitiful excuse for a scientist. I can't believe I forgot what happens every few hundred years. Even a single eruption of Mount Fuji is enough to completely transform the landscape. In the 3,700 years that we were asleep, it must have gone off at least four or five times. Maybe even more than ten. The maps from our time aren't worth a damn thing anymore. That's so scary! We'll need a new map, then. But it's gonna take a while to put one together. C'mon, we can figure it out without a map! We really can't. It'd be too much of a long shot to find an oil field without any directions, and far too dangerous. A new map? But how would we make one? Birds... If only we could ride one to get a look around. I bet they know all about what the ground looks like from way up there. Bingo! Hemp, people! We need hemp! Every last person here's gotta start gathering it up. I'm sure we do, Senku... But everyone's got their hands full building the ship. All we need to do is remind them just how important the search for oil really is. We'll make use of all the drago they've saved up to nudge them in the right direction. I'm finally rolling in dough! Oh, yeah? Well, I've got twice as much as you! Didn't you hear, friends? The value of your drago is in grave danger. What? Right now, we're having a tiny bit of trouble finding that oil field. And if we can't find the oil, well... The deal to exchange drago for oil goes up in flames. But don't you worry... I'll let you in on a little secret. There's a simple way to keep that from happening. Those guys really are slaves to their money, aren't they? All it takes is one rumor to bring about a dire financial crash. It's been that way for over a millennium! After I convinced them to save up all that money, you went and manipulated the market to your advantage. You truly are a force to be reckoned with, Senku. Just look at all this hemp, Senku! Suika was right. We just have to search for the oil from above. Using hot air balloons, our science-powered expedition team... will search from the skies! Humans... ...are gonna fly... ...in the sky?! In order to take on this new world, we first need to conquer the new Japan that Mount Fuji has made for us. Don't make me laugh, Senku! That's too much, even for you. There's no way humans can fly. Ah, sorry, I shouldn't make fun of your ignorance. Don't worry, I'm not sayin' anything this time. I've got no idea what he's cooking up. How the hell are we gonna fly when we've got nothing to fly with? This is getting even better! The sky? I want it! Done. This is our roadmap to conquering the skies. This has gotta be the longest roadmap yet, right? I'm getting fired up already! So short! Hot air balloons are stupid simple, after all. You could fold up a whole flight kit and throw it in your back seat. Who knew flight would be such a casual discovery? Hemp cloth? Isn't that going to leak air? A little bit of leaking doesn't hurt. The first-ever hot air balloon was actually made the same way. There is one thing that's going to take a while, though... Let me guess... You need a crap ton of cloth, right? Well, whaddya know? Looks like it's up to our handicrafts pro once again! Totally didn't think of that! Not even for a second, nope! The science team will dedicate itself to designing the passenger basket. We'll make any tools you need, though. Can I leave the cloth-making to you, Yuzuriha? You think the crafts team's up to the task? You know it! If you need something crushed, just leave it to me! I don't get it at all. How the hell're we gonna fly with just some grass? You can't fly with grass, man. You use it to make threads. Actually, about that... We're using a spinner to make the threads. A spinner? Yuzuriha's Easy Handcrafts! Episode 1! First, we gather up these fiber-looking bits— in other words, the separated hemp. Wrap it up around the top like so... twist it around a bit, and then you just spin! There! All done! See? Simple, right? It's actually kinda fun. Now, all we need to do... is make tens of thousands of kilometers of this stuff! Yep, there it is! There's always a catch! This's never gonna end! It will if you stop talking and spin. Okay, now I'm just even more confused. So instead of grass, we're gonna fly with this string? Obviously not, dude. You can't fly with string. You use it to make cloth. Okay, next, let's go over how to make cloth. Yuzuriha's Easy Handcrafts! Episode 2! First, string the thread on vertically, like a harp. Then, do it again, but horizontally! Over and under, over and under! Then do it in reverse on the way back! Keep doing it over and over and over again... and it'll start looking like cloth! You're saying we have to do this over and over again, one thread at a time?! Th-This is gonna take forever, man. Handicrafts take patience! How the hell is this "simple"?! Well, I never said it was easy, did I? Just simple. That said, this really would take forever if we did it by hand. But the science team might be able to help us out. A loom, huh? Finally... a loom! Hey, it's all done. Oh, jeez. Not what you had in mind, huh, Yuzuriha? Sorry, we didn't have much time. Bet you wanted an electric one, huh? A-A-A-Are you freaking kidding me?! This is more than I ever could've hoped for! What do you say we dye it with this? Might as well, right? So you've got a softer side too, huh, Nikki? It's so nice! Great work as usual, crafts team. You're almost at the finish line, right? A lot of that won't make the cut, though. Cloth that breathes too easily won't keep the air in properly. Keep at it a bit longer, then. Thanks. Did you guys hear? We still don't have enough thread. To fix that, we're holding a happy little thread-spinning competition! Whoever makes the longest thread wins a whopping 10,000 drago! Competition, my ass, Gen. I mean, sure, that'll get them pumped up, but... Where did we even get all this cash? Dude. Don't worry! By the end of this, we'll have more than enough. Just think about all that extra cloth. What if we used it to make something to sell? Sell where? The Senku Department Store. So that's the deal. Oh my gosh, yes! I'd love to make some! The tent's shaking like crazy. Yuzuriha, everything okay in— Hey, Kinro! It's like she's been possessed. Is that really Yuzuriha? Something wrong? That's just how she gets when she's working on her crafts. Th-This is so embarrassing... If you're going for an exotic vibe, consider this outfit. Better yet, throw in a scarf for that final, extra touch of elegance! Kinro?! That's not how you're supposed to swing your arms, jackass! For the man who knows what he wants, we've also got this eclectic outfit. Contrasting a traditional slim fit with casual accessories, it's the best of all worlds! She made all of this with just hemp?! Yuzuriha's crazy talented! For the modern woman, here's an option that adds a dash of street chic to a style that screams "I'm a cute little girl!" She is cute! I kinda want that... Special occasions demand a suave three-piece suit, but that doesn't mean you have to hide your inner rocker! It's so expensive! Go ahead, fall in love with me. How 'bout this one? Anything would look great on you, Magma! I like them, but the price is pretty steep, huh? I think I'm gonna go for it. You're buying it? Well, I just mean I'm gonna think about it! The Senku Department Store is launching with some pretty pricey products, huh? Might be a while before they actually start selling. Might as well just give them away to the people who actually work. We've got a regular King Midas with bottomless pockets, so making a profit won't be a problem. Thank you for your patronage. I'm playing right into their hands, aren't I? We're finally over the biggest hurdle. Now we've got a crap ton of cloth. Let's get this thing built and into the sky. Say what?! A flying machine?! Holy shit! Wait, Chrome! Ain't no way I'm missing that! How big do we need to make it, Senku? Let me think. For a balloon of 2,000 square meters and an air temperature of 15°C, we'll need to generate 90°C of heat to get 520 kilograms of lift. However, air temperature drops by 6.5°C every thousand meters or so. Going above 100°C risks burning the cloth, but we should just about make it up to 1,500 meters, directly below the jet stream. Which means... If we want it to carry three people, the balloon's diameter needs to be 7.8 meters. Ow! I poked myself again! Whee, whee, whee! How're you primitives so freakin' good at this? We all got plenty of practice sewing leather clothes and stuff like that. You modern folk are so damn useless. Why're you acting so smug, Magma? You haven't even done anything. Yo, what was that about modern people being useless? You don't get to act smug, either. It's finally done! This is the flying machine?! It's so damn big! So, who's going up? Up to three people can join, right? I'd rather not, honestly. Senku knows how it works, so he's a given. But who else is gonna go? Well, the balloon ain't gonna fly itself. We need somebody who can read air currents in order to navigate. In other words, we need a pilot who's got a way with the wind. Oh, I gotcha! Hey, Ryu— Shh! You two suck at making deals! You lack any sense of finesse! At this rate, Ryusui's gonna rip us off again! Right. Well, I'll let you deal with all that noise. All right, everyone! Gather 'round, please! There are two open spots on the balloon, so we're gonna decide this by luck of the draw! I've got two Jokers in this deck. If you pull one, you're in! All right, Ryusui. You're up next. He's trying to make it look like Ryusui won by chance, huh? Does Gen really think he'll fall for this? I doubt he's gonna work for free, either way. I see what you've done here. If you wanted my help, you should've just asked. Out of respect for your valiant effort here, Gen, I'll lower my pilot's fee to a mere one million drago. Now, if you don't mind, I'll be taking that Joker and the spot! More than anything else in the world, what people hate most is losing something they thought was theirs. Psychological tests have proven as much. It's just the same for matters of the heart. Oh, dang... It seems I ended up with a Joker. What a surprise! Can't say I'm thrilled, though... What to do, what to do? What, you don't want it? You'll never get a golden ticket like that again. You'd be one of the first humans to take flight in the new world! I mean, I get you... But I'm a little afraid of flying in a balloon. In that case, I'd be happy to bear that burden for you! Really? But... I did win this ticket, after all. I'm afraid I can't just give it away... We were supposed to pay him! How did things end up like this?! Gen really does scare me sometimes. We're going to have our oil funds in no time. All right! That second ticket is as good as mine! Damn, no good. Should we really leave the other ticket to chance? Sure, whatever. Long as it's someone interested, who won't crap themselves up there. Me! It's me! I'm interested! I'm your guy! L-Lemme draw a card. Ain't no way I'm passing up a chance to ride the flying machine. I'm gonna draw the winning card with sheer willpower! Chrome... Did you seriously run all the way back? I want to see it from the sky, with my own eyes. What the world is really like! I know what you told me, Senku. That the world is round. But for those of us who've lived our entire lives in this tiny village, we can only take your word for it. We only know because you already do, Senku. So, please... Yes! For real?! Chrome actually drew the right card with sheer willpower! Hell freakin' yeah! What are you all up to, Senku? We just finished filling our deer gut pilot balloon with hydrogen. What's our rate of ascent? At that size? Should be roughly 70 meters per minute. And what exactly does that tell us? It tells us what the winds are like above us. And right now, they're looking excellent! It's a perfect morning for a launch! W-We're floating! They're actually freakin' flying! It's working so dang well! We really are incredible, aren't we? When people want something that seems impossible, do they just give up? No! They make it, whatever it takes! Even if it takes millions of years of science to figure out how. They're so tiny already. Huh? The balloon's glowing. But it's still so dark on the ground... Well, we are 1,200 meters up, after all. Due to the Earth's rotation, sunlight won't reach them for another seven minutes. So the world really is round, huh? Now I've actually seen it! With my own eyes! Crap. I wanna see even more. I wanna know everything there is to know about this world! We're in the sky, protected by nothing but our own skin and flesh. You won't get this experience anywhere else. This thrilling sensation is one of a kind! We're flying with the birds! I'm not so sure that's something to be happy about. Bird strikes. They were responsible for an insane number of accidents back in the day. Damn, for real? We just have to avoid them. It's odd, though. We aren't rising as fast as I expected. The way the balloon moves is dependent on the wind. It's literally a sailboat of the sky. Which means it's my time to shine! I'm gonna take this maiden flight to its goal! Goal? Where are we headed, anyway? Ishigami Village. What?! That's at least a two-day walk, even if you book it! Yep. And just shy of two hours by balloon. That's the power of the wind! And to think, we ran ourselves ragged making that trip... Sky travel is insane. And it's so simple, too. Well, that last part isn't exactly true. Getting to Ishigami Village requires going west, which is tricky. If you're flying east, you can just ride the wind that's always blowing above Japan. Yeah. Any amateur can fly east. So how are we flying west, then? A low-pressure system! Real nasty winds that cook up all sorts of storms. But since they rotate counter-clockwise, we can take advantage of that speed and hitch a free ride to the west! Once I master flying to Ishigami Village on this wind, we can go even further west, on the hunt for oil! It'll be tough and super risky! But a professional adventurer overcomes! Am I wrong? With me as your captain, you amateurs are free to relax. A professional adventurer? And did he just call me an amateur? Me? The king of exploration? It's certainly true that you're a pro when it comes to sailing the seven seas, Ryusui. But when it comes to exploring dry land, I'd say you're still green. When you're this close to the ground, the wind tends to blow along the rivers. Hm, you're right. Looks like we're being drawn toward the river a bit. We'll be stranded if it takes us out to sea. Let's climb higher. Any true professional adventurer who's surveyed the land with his own two feet would know this kind of crap by heart! I'm in a different league from the amateurs who take vehicles everywhere! Enough of your stupid chest-thumping. If you want to see what the wind's like below you, you just need to use one of these things. We've got quite the situation on our hands. I suppose flying westward truly is tantamount to a battle with the gods themselves. I-It's huge! Allow me to introduce the storm-bearing demon of the skies... The mighty cumulonimbus! H-H-Holy crap! What is this?! Any closer, and it'll pull us in with overwhelming force. Our balloon would be torn to shreds. We need to make an emergency landing, stat! Tug that handle, Chrome! That'll open the top of the balloon and release hot air, allowing us to descend quickly. Got it! Wait! Senku? It's already open. Pull any more and the cloth'll tear, sending us into free fall. What the hell happened?! It must've been a bird strike. No wonder we couldn't ascend. Crap! We just keep rising, even though we've already shut off the flame! We're been captured by the leviathan-nimbus' updraft! Isn't there any way to descend?! Nope. There's no escaping this. Put your brain into overdrive. Think of something! How can science get us out of this pinch? Once the steep ascent starves my brain of oxygen, it's really over. This is a golden opportunity! In order to overcome this beast of a storm, I have no choice but to master this craft! I'll find a way out of this! An opening in the wind currents! Dammit. We have to escape! But there's no way out... Escape? Really? Are we sure that's the right move? Humans are weak as hell. Running away from nature can only ever get us killed. Don't run. We've just gotta bust our way through with mind and soul! Until we're out of this demon's grasp! Bad idea? Not at all. If dropping down's not an option, we can rocket up a few thousand meters, where we'll be even higher than this ginormous, ever-growing Lord Cumulonimbus. At that altitude, we'll have just enough oxygen to avoid hypoxia. Not bad, Chrome. All right! Throw in all the fuel we have left! On it. We want to accelerate as fast as we can to blow through the cumulonimbus, right? Wait, isn't that... The revival fluid that broke me out of the stone? It's a cocktail of alcohol and nitric acid, meaning it's extra flammable. I hate to use our last bottle, but oh well. It's a bit of a waste, but just wait 'til you see... the insane energy density of liquid fuels! All right! Let's go! Where is it? Where's the way out? Ryusui, what are you... I see the updraft! The path through the wind! Now! Give it the rest of our fuel. We're blowing a hole right through this beast's skull! Let it rip, Ryusui! In this world, even the skies are mine to command! They're flying. They're actually flying. Chrome. Ryusui. Senku! Guess what, guys? Senku and the crew made it to Ishigami Village! What? Already? Seriously? It's only been a couple of hours! The world suddenly feels a lot smaller, doesn't it? All right! The rest of us better get working, too! It seems science can elevate not just balloons, but people's hearts, as well. You're right. Everyone's excited as hell. Wouldn't it be crazy if they finished the ship even faster now? Gen, I've been wondering... You must have known who would win the ship idea contest. So why even have it? In magic, there's a technique called "forcing", where you make a person choose a certain card. But letting people choose for themselves, or at least making them think they chose for themselves... That part's really important. People don't come together under the thumb of a strong leader. Gen... I'm really glad you sided with Senku instead of Tsukasa or Hyoga. We're here. We've reached our goal. But I bet that was no sweat for you, huh? Given your skills, Ryusui. You lot are no slouches, either. If we professional adventurers rely on each other and combine our strengths, finding that oil will be a piece of cake! Leave that manly-friendship- after-a-riverside-duel stuff for later. Hurry up and help me. I'm about to die here. C'mon! If there's one thing that Senku knows perfectly well, it's that people are power. You know, it's the same for me, Chrome. What is? There's still plenty I don't know about this world, and I want to see it with my own eyes. I want to see what's on the other side of this world, where the petrification beam came from. Very well, Senku! I'll take you there, to the other side of the planet! First things first, let's take a trip in this balloon to get the king of fuel, petroleum. This is exhilarating.
